Following TVR's announcement last year that it is to discontinue production at its Bristol Avenue factory in Blackpool by 2007, the company has brought forward its plans to coincide with the cessation of its current lease, which would otherwise require long-term renewal. TVR is to relocate some of its assembly process to a more suitable facility, the exact details of which cannot yet be released.
The cars will continue to be hand-built to customers' orders by highly skilled craftsmen using mostly proprietary components, but the impressive new technology, processes and techniques with which they'll be constructed and tested are considerably more advanced. This will mean a significant and more consistent step-up in precision, quality, reliability and durability, as well as in compliance with international requirements.
TVRs have been built at Bristol Avenue since the 1970s, so it is regrettable that cut-backs to the local production team have been necessary. TVR wishes to extend its thanks to all of its loyal staff at the factory, as well as its thoughts to all those who have had to be laid off. The company is confident, however, that this difficult decision is the right one to secure its long-term stability and foothold within the competitive, low-volume sports car industry, as well as to continue to improve its product for the wider domestic and international marketplaces.
The logistics arm of the business will also be modernised to improve the availability of parts and the timeframes within which they're delivered. The entire change-over has, of course, been carefully planned to minimise disruption, and all current authorised dealerships and service centres will remain completely unaffected.
Although slow winter sales hit the automotive industry as a whole, TVR wishes to clarify that its sales have not slumped generally, with demand remaining fairly constant for a number of years. The company remains financially stable and is highly optimistic about its future.
As well as an encouragingly high level of interest at its showrooms, TVR is extremely confident in its ongoing plans: it is on schedule for achieving Euro IV emissions approval, which will enable it to sell more concertedly into Europe, and the developments for which will help with selling into the lucrative US and Middle East markets; it is exhibiting at the forthcoming Motor Show, for which it has several surprises planned; testing and production processes and component quality have all advanced markedly, and continue to do so; and a new marketing campaign is under way.
There has also been an excellent reaction from the press and the public to TVR's newest and best ever models: the Sagaris coupe, the Tuscan convertible and the reworked Tuscan targa, all of which are now backed by a comprehensive three-year/36,000-mile warranty.
TVR is looking forward to enjoying the continued support of its customers and emphatic enthusiasts in the UK and throughout the world, as well as to attracting new ones with the positive progress of the company and its cars. TVR is also preparing for its 60th anniversary celebrations next year

Inderdaad, TVR is nog niet ter ziele en beraad zich op een doorstart. Probleem is dat er weinig animo is voor de huidige modellen. Ook al verklaard men dat de verkoopcijfers stabiel zijn gebleven, de kosten voor de productie zijn natuurlijk wel omhoog gegaan. En een stijging van het aantal verkochte autos zat er dus niet in, een target dat TVR zich enkele jaren geleden had gesteld. De meeste TVR's zijn geen makkelijke autos om te rijden en zelfs de huidige Brit wil een strak sturende auto en laat daar zijn patriotisme voor varen.
Ik vermoed dat TVR wel terug zal komen op de markt met een beter bedrijfsconcept.
Evenwel erg jammer want dit soort merken maken de markt wel levendig.

Ik heb het genoegen gehad eens met een Tuscan te mogen sturen. Te gekke sensatie maar ik vond de achterkant een beetje onrustig. Maar laat ik wel wezen, ieder zijn voorkeuren en zeker geen slechte auto hoor.

Ziet er wel te gek uit Marcel. Zo'n Chimaera heeft een te gekke achterkant. Dat moet je die engelsen toch altijd nageven. Ze kunnen prachtige autos maken.

Heb zelf ongeveer halfjaar geleden in een Griffith 500 mogen rijden.... Je weet niet hoe dát accelereert... ongelooflijk...... Nou was dit wel een 'gekietelde' maar nog.....

Ik laat me minder leiden door emotie - ziet er best wel flitsend uit 
- als door 'feiten' - heb wel eens onder de kap gekeken van een TVR - en dan sluit ik me aan bij Epicuris: wat een amateuristisch gerommel was daar te zien zeg

Absoluut een feit. Qua interieur altijd erg stijlvol een engelse auto maar je moet nooit de techniek willen zien. Los van het feit dat ze er in op dat eiland nog wel eens een handje van hebben om gewoon wat te experimenteren met nieuwe concepten in de productielijn.
Tijdens de reastauratie van een Jaguar liep ik tegen exact zelfde type aan met slechts één nummer hoger chasisnummer. Bleek dat die auto compleet andere brandstofpompen en lokatie van de pompen aan board had en ook de opbouw van de relais en zekeringkast was volledig anders.
Dan kunnen ze dat in Duitsland toch beter. Daar zijn de concepten vaak wat beter uitontwikkeld voordat het de productielijn op gaat.
(Overigens wel veel plezier aan die Jag gehad hoor

TVR............bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrr strakke bak.
Wat iedereen ook zegt..........TVR is 100 % emotie en stijl...ook al zou ie voor geen meter rijden ('k heb geen ervaring)......ziet ie er gelikt uit.

TVR rijdt echt wel strak, en met de techniek is eigenlijk ook weinig mis, zeker met de TVR's uit de Chimaera, Griffith en Cerbera tijdperk daar deze vrij veelvuldig gebruik maakten van donorparts.
En ja wat uitlaatgeluid betreft, wat zal ik zeggen....daar kan Porsche nog wel wat van leren.....

Heb een TVR S uit '88 gehad. Ford V6 2.8 motor met 160 pk in 990 kg. Enorme snelheidssensatie door het gebrul van de uitlaten waar je uiteindelijk wel een haat/liefde verhouding mee krijgt. Prachtig dashboard en unieke kapconstructie (zowel targa als full cabrio). In de regen druppels op de bril van het lekken en in de bilnaad van het angszweet. Reed altijd rond met een hartsalg van 150. Volgende auto wordt misschien wel een Chimaera...

dat valt nog mee, Chimaera's Griffith, Cerbera's etc 350 pk in 1000 kg...
Wat ze er ook van zeggen, het blijven auto's die je heel lang bij blijven en altijd een glimlach op je gezicht toveren, echter minder geschikt voor dagelijks gebruik...

Toevallig gisteravond nog gezien bij TopGear op BBC Prime, een TVR Tuscan vs. een Wiesmann
Leuke auto die Wiesmann
Die TVR was moeilijk te besturen, bleek uit dat filmpje. Het was trouwens een (zeer) oude aflevering van TopGear, want de Cayman S werd aangekondigd als de nieuwste Porsche, waarvan de achterkant niet op tv vertoond mocht worden van meneer Clarkson. Wat een eikel die Clarkson, de Cayman S is echt een geweldig mooie auto, mooier dan die gruwelijke Ford GT die hij had gekocht. AMEN.

Hmm ik vergelijk kwa uiterlijk TVR best een beetje met de Lotus Elise en dergelijk, hoewel die Wiesmann er ook veel van weg heeft. ( lijkt ook een beetje op een Jaguar met dat grilletje 
)
Ik heb er nog nooit een gezien en kan dus ook niet beoordelen hoe ie rijdt of klinkt, maar ik vond dat model uit Swordfish wel HEEL apart en je ziet ook niet vaak dat sportwagens zulke kleuren hebben!!

Wel een aparte auto zo'n TVR. Maar het zal mijn auto niet worden.
Op zich ben ik wel erg gecharmeerd van engelse autos qua design en history maar ik denk dat TVR, zoals hierboven al omschreven, een beetje over the top is.

TVR is niet over de top maar autoplezier in de overtreffende trap wat betreft beleving, geluid en prestaties. Ja daar moet je dan wel een beetje practisch gebruik voor opofferen. Zoals reeds vaker gezegd ik heb een Cimaera gehad, super.
Als ik de mogelijkheid zou hebben voor een Sagaris ipv van mij Porsche was de keuze snel gemaakt, maar dat heeft ook heel veel te maken met hoe ik tegenwoordig mijn Porsche gebruik....
