944 Steering and suspension - where to check and repair?

15 nov 2008 3:20

Hello,

I'm new in NL and new to Porsche ownership, so meanwhile I can only write in English, and ask "dummies" questions

I recently bought a 1984 944.
When driving, the car pulls to the right, and turns right more easily than left. (tyre pressure is OK)
I also think the steering is too light around the centre.

This leads me to think that the wheel alignment is probably bad, and in the worse case - bad suspension bushings or links.
I also have a feeling that the shock absorbers are 'tired' although since I haven't driven a 944 before, I'm not sure.

Anyway, I want to take the car to a specialist who knows his 944s, who can check the wheel alignment, steering and suspension, and repair at reasonable rates.

I live near Eindhoven, and with internet zoeken I found some Porsche specialists in my area (listed below).
Can anyone recommend one of these for the kind of job I need done?
Is any of them particularly good for 944s?
Or warn me to stay away from any of them?
Or perhaps recommend another one in the area that I didn't find?

1. Paul Geeris in Heeze
2. Schmidt-Oss in Oss
3. Aarts auto service in Asten
4. Rennsport in Breda
5. Porsche Centrum Eindhoven in Oirschot? ( then why's it called E'hoven?)

Any advice and tips are appreciated,

Bedankt,
Jeremy

Brabanders opgelet: Nieuwe Porsche specialist in Asten o.a. or a.o. ;)

There are no "NO GO's" in your list as far as I know. I would just pick one of them to go to (first) and see for yourself.

PS. I live there too and despite of that drive (all the way) to Steenwijk for maintenance and repair.
