Schwachstellen & Qualitätsprobleme

Qualitätsprobleme beim Porsche 993, ja da gibt es ein paar aber zum Glück doch sehr wenige!

Rückrufaktion: Leitungssatz Motor 911 Carrera sowie!

Rückrufaktion: des Modelljahrs 1996, da durch einen Fehler der Elektronik der Airbag ausgelöst werden kann!

Bei den 993'ern vor Baujahr 1996 dürfen aufgrund eines Konzeptionsfehlers von Porsche keine 18Zoll Räder montiert werden.

Ab dem Baujahr 1996 dürfen wieder 18 Zöller (außer beim Targa) aufgezogen werden.

Beim Targa gab es Probleme mit Verspannungen im Glasdach, die vor der Einführung nicht mehr gelöst werden konnten.

Rückrufaktion beim 911 Cabrio der Baureihe 993 aus den Jahren 1993-1998
So läuft der 911-Rückruf: Der Rückruf startet Anfang Januar 2oo5. Alle Besitzer werden von Porsche angeschrieben Zur Überprüfung in die Werkstätten gerufen werden alle Porsche 911 Cabrio (Baureihe 993), die zwischen dem 11. August 1993 und dem 26. Januar 1998 gebaut wurden. Die Rückrufaktion umfaßt: • Austausch der beiden Verriegelungsmotoren an der Vorderkante des Faltdaches • Überprüfung und falls erforderlich Austausch der Arretierungszapfen am Faltdach, die in die beiden A-Säulen greifen • Überprüfung und Justierung der seitlichen Dachführung.

Alle Maßnahmen im Rahmen des Tausches sind kostenlos. Die Halter der betroffenen Fahrzeuge ermittelt Porsche über das Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt in Flensburg und schreibt sie Anfang Januar 2005 direkt an.

in 1996 was volgens mij niet de goede 18' velg/band combi te maken. Er is ook een officieel Porsche AG brief aan alle dealers gestuurd dat een 964 niet met 18' uitgerust mocht worden. Is inmiddels achterhaald omdat er nu wel banden voor waren die e.e.a. 'kloppend' konden maken, meen ik me te herinneren.

Vast wel iemand hier die het fijne weet of zin heeft het op te zoeken...

Ik merk ook niets vreemds.Maar ja, hoe kan je in zo'n vreemde auto ook iets vreemds voelen als je geen vergelijkingsmateriaal hebt....

of toch anders kom ik morgen wel ff naar alkmaar ga ik ff een paar rondjes in de 993 van uw rijden.. kijken wat ik merk wha ha ha ha

Klopt, zelfde geldt trouwens ook voor de Boxster modeljaar 97. Ook 18 inch niet toegestaan.

ja en ook voor de 924/944/968 En ik rij al jaren probleemloos met 18"

pas nog bij de garage geweest , daar hebben we het wel over de juiste bandenspanning gehad, maar dat die 18" niet onder mijn wagen zouden mogen, werdt niet over gepraat

Tuurlijk niet.is toch een normale zaak onder die fijne S'en..

ik vind dat er minstens 18'' onder hoort

Heeft te maken met de stijfheid van de auto, bij een 993 van voor 1996, met 18” wielen, dient een extra beugel gemonteerd te worden.

Mijn idee. Ben nog steeds tevreden met mijn originele 17" Cup. Heel soms gluur ik wel naar 18".........

Overigens: gaat het nu om auto's van voor 1995 of tot en met 1995?

If you intend to fit the Porsche 18" hollow-spoke wheels on early 993s, Porsche has indicated that they will not fit on the models before VIN 99SS323614. Generally, these wheels require the wider bodywork of the Turbo and Turbo S. Porsche does offer different 18" versions for wide-body (C4S) and narrow-body cars, but they should not be used on cars vbefore the noted VIN. Porsche revised the front and rear wheel carrier, front lower ball joint, and front shock absorber, and reinforcced the rear anti-roll bar mounts on the lter cars to accommodate the larger cornering loads of the 18" wheels.

Thought this info might be interesting to you....

There's been a lot of talk these past few weeks Re: 18" Turbo Wheels on early "95 cars and the Steering Support Bracket..

I just installed (about an hour ago) the Steering Support Bracket on my early "95C2. My VIN # is before the XXX323614 number, but I like the 18" Turbo wheels and plan to fit them on the car. I have 17" Cup Wheels on the car at the moment.

I purchased the kit from my local dealer for approx. $40.00. It fit perfectly and was a very easy install... took only about 30 min.
I removed the plastic tray and removed the long allen bolts. I used a 6mm hex socket which made the job easier. Installed the
bracket and torqued the new allen bolts to 32.5 ft-lbs..... I found that I didn't need the shorter allen bolts in the kit...I left the
existing ones in place on the rack....Please see attachment....

I though that if you wanted to use the photo on your site that it may help answer some questions from the readers....
If nothing else...it does prove that the bracket fits perfectly on early cars!!

I spoke to a SoCal Porsche field rep and he mentioned that there would be absolutely no problems fitting the wheels...just add the bracket.... He also said that it was a "warranty consideration" when Porsche released the TSB 4440-9604. Porsche didn't want to spend the money upgrading all the early cars and it was much easier to "not approve" the wheels for those cars. It would have cost them a small fortune.

The reason the Targa is not approved at all is due the the fact that the larger wheels would add more stress the the car and cause more squeaks. The Targas squeak so much anyway and the Factory didn't want to repair all the additional squeaks while under warranty.... Again it would cost them too much money.....

I checked out TSB # 4440-4 dated 8/21/98...."Summer Tire/Wheel Summary..." and read that the factory has now approved (at that time) the 18" wheels on all 95-98 993s (not Targa)...and by 8/21/98 all MY'95 cars were out of warranty...So it wouldn't cost Porsche
any money to allow the wheels to be fitted !
