Toeren bereik
Hi
As newcomer to the site I have got a question to a sentence in an aankoopkeruring report. It says: "toeren berijk 6 berijkt deze bij 2559, 100 uur totaal gedraaid 6253, 100uur is al en tijdje geleden"
What does that mean and is it anything to worry about?

Re: Toeren berijk.
There are levels 1 to 6. Each level is I think clips of 200 rpm (or 100?) above the limiter. And the number next to it is engine revolutions at that level of rpm. So, anything above a 1 or a 2 means that the engine was over revved quite hard. It is quite seldom to have tips go above that, as in order to go higher, you would be looking at a missed shift (thus manual transmission). And if there is a missed shift, it is likely you will see type 4 and 5, or even a 6. There is also an indication when they happened (hours of operation of the engine) so if you compare relative to the total hours of the engine operation, you can determine how early in the life of a car they took place.
The higher type over revs could cause warranty issues so beware

Re: Toeren berijk.
Thanks. Great reply! It is indeed a manual transmission so likely a missed shift casuing the 6.
But I assume the text is also concluding that the 6 is reached at 100 hours of operation and that is some time ago.

Re: Toeren berijk.
In addition, the 997 engine really does not like over-revving. I am not sure stage 6 is the worst or stage 1 is the worst. However, if 6 is the worst then you should also have stages 1-5 "hits" since the engine has to go past those rev ranges to get to the highest...
if it is indeed 2559 revolutions and stage 6 is the worst then i'd say go for a different car...
but it can also mean that stage 6 was reached at 2559 engine hours, then i don't understand the 100 hours, and the total hours are 6253 so it must have a been a while ago (thats what the last part says). I'd suggest you ask the dealer/whoever did the pre-purchase check.

Re: Toeren berijk.
Found this link: http://www.911virgin.com/porsche/rev-range-information/ Bad news that it has reved above 6 but good news that it seems to be a while ago. i.e. risk of engine damage is "limited".

Re: Toeren berijk.
It is Not the Number of Revolutions but the Number of ignitions what is read-out. As we are dealing with a 6 cilinder four stroke engine there are 3 ignitions for each revolution

Re: Toeren berijk.
Hi Thanks for the reactions and educations in dutch! I will pass on to the mechanic from Porsche Gelderland that did the test and wrote the report ) I walked away from the deal as 6253 hours of engine time did not correspond with 84200 km. OR it is the slowest porsche on the northern hemisphere? On i go for the hurt for a fine 997! Morten

Re: Toeren berijk.
6253 operation hrs is approx. 13 km/hrs on average. Must be a sucker for traffic jams! In real world 6253 operation hours will be over 250,000km
