Help. Need a good independant repair garage for 98 boxster.
Hi I recently moved to the Netherlands and have a 98 Porsche Boxster. The check engine light came on so I went to the official dealer and they told me the ignition coils and the camshaft accutator needs to be changed. They are asking for 6000 before tax. Does anyone know of a good independant garage around the amsterdam area where it can be done cheaper?

Re: Help. Need a good independant repair garage for 98 boxst
I think you have been subject to a major ripp off attempt, 6000 euro for a camshaft actuator and an ignition coil seems an awfull lot of money to me. For that sort of money one can almost rebuild a complete engine. I would advise you the get a second opinion and the garages suggested are all good choices.

Hans told me once: When I tell people we're situated in Uithoorn, they think I mean 'Hoorn'. That causes a lot of confusion. So I tell them we run our business from Amstelveen, like we used to, and Amstelveen is nearby Uithoorn anyway. True story...

Have you read the book "I always get my sin", from Maarten H. Rijkens. Tells you something about our English skills.

hi Dion,
Hans Bos will not be able to repair your Boxster, but his direct neighbour Rob Goossen will. He's a very experienced Porsche mechanic.
Nevertheless, and as others did, it is advisable to get a 2nd opinion. From 'Waalgarage' for example, residing just north of Amsterdam in the town called 'Broek in Waterland'. This little town is worth the visit anyway...
